Summary
Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and clinical team members in delivering safe, timely, and patient-centered nephrology care.
This position is designated as an on-site, patient-facing role. In-office presence is an essential function due to the need for real-time collaboration with providers, direct interaction with patients and caregivers, and secure handling of health data in compliance with HIPAA.
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to participate in the assessment of patients; use critical thinking skills in response to events, observations, experiences, verbal and written communication, problem solving and decision making.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or Certification for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and 2 years clinical experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Active LPN license in the state of North Carolina/South Carolina
- Nephrology experience preferred
- Current BLS or ACLS certification
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR platforms

Essential Functions
- Prepare patients for clinical evaluation, including chart review and initial assessment.25%
- Obtain and document vital signs, weight, allergies, and current medications in the EMR. 25%
- Perform lab procedures within scope, including fingerstick HGB and stool card interpretation after certification. 25%
- Educate patients and complete referrals as directed by the provider. 15%
- Maintain accurate documentation of communication, interventions, and follow-up care in the EMR.10%
Physical Demands
- Hearing, visual acuity, depth perception, balancing, handling, and talking.
- Reaching, grabbing, holding – fine motor skills.
- Extended periods in a stationary or standing position
- Repetitive motion such as entering data into computer-based programs.
- Lift or move up to twenty-five pounds. Employees are expected to use appropriate ergonomics and tools such as hand carts for heavier loads.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, or hear.
Work Schedule is Monday- Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with a one-hour lunch. Slight modifications may be made to this schedule with approval from manager.
