Position Summary

The Infusion Nurse coordinates and delivers skilled nursing care to patients in our ambulatory infusion suite. This role involves patient assessments, venous access, administration of infusion therapies, patient education, and coordination with referring providers. The nurse will also collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality service, patient satisfaction, and adherence to clinical protocols.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Duties

  • Perform skilled nursing care, including starting and monitoring IV infusions, PICC line care, and other venous access procedures.
     
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-infusion assessments and monitor patient status throughout treatment.
     
  • Respond promptly to adverse drug reactions or infusion-related complications, following established emergency protocols.
     
  • Provide discharge instructions and patient education on therapy, side effects, and self-care.
     
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant infusion environment.
     

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
     
  • Participate in patient care conferences, staff meetings, and in-service training sessions.
     
  • Support marketing and community outreach by providing education to referral sources when requested.
     

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner per company and regulatory standards.
     
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, and ongoing clinical competencies.
     
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control guidelines.
     


Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (RN required; BSN preferred).
     
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
     
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience in infusion therapy, including patient assessments and IV access skills.
     
  • CPR/BLS certification required (ACLS preferred).
     
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
     


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory infusion or specialty infusion setting.
     
  • PICC line insertion/maintenance certification.
     
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) credential.
