Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with a strong background in RNA biology to join our dynamic R&D team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in RNA synthesis, modification, characterization, and functional assays. You will play a critical role in developing and optimizing RNA-based tools for therapeutic and research applications, working closely with senior scientists to execute experiments, analyze data, and contribute to project milestones.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Perform in vitro transcription (IVT) for mRNAs, including optimization of yield, purity, and integrity.
- Conduct RNA purification using chromatographic and precipitation-based methods.
- Design and execute experiments to assess RNA stability, translation efficiency, and functionality in cell-free and cell-based systems.
- Prepare and analyze RNA samples using techniques such as agarose/formaldehyde gel electrophoresis, Bioanalyzer/TapeStation, RT-qPCR, and NGS.
- Assist in evaluating novel RNA modifications.
- Maintain accurate lab notebooks, organize data, and present results in team meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, following SOPs and adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Monitor supply inventory and identify any products required.
- Maintain work area, equipment, department and all storage areas in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Skills / Abilities
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience in RNA biology (industry or academic setting).
- Proficiency in RNA handling techniques and enzymatic manipulations.
- Familiarity with cell culture and transfection methods is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple experiments simultaneously.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Compensation
Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
