Albatronix Consulting, Palo Alto, CA, US
Job Description
Job Description
We operate in the commercial satellite communications and aerospace sector, building a low-Earth-orbit (LEO) relay network that fuses RF and optical inter-satellite links for continuous, real-time connectivity. Our engineering teams deliver mission-grade embedded and flight software that must be secure, deterministic, and resilient in extreme environments.
Role Responsibilities- Architect, implement, and maintain real-time flight software for satellite command, control, and payload management on resource-constrained platforms.
- Develop and optimise embedded drivers, hardware-abstraction layers, and telemetry/telecommand interfaces for avionics, SDRs, and optical/RF payloads.
- Integrate vendor SDKs and third-party board-support packages into the flight stack and adapt them for mission requirements.
- Design and implement autonomy features including fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) and safe-mode behaviours for on-orbit reliability.
- Build and expand software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test frameworks to accelerate verification, CI/CD, and regression testing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with RF, GNC, systems, and ops teams to support hardware bring-up, system-level test, and on-orbit commissioning.
Must-Have
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; 5+ years in embedded/flight software (space, aerospace, or robotics).
- Proven C/C++ expertise for deterministic, low-latency systems and experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, RTEMS, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with device drivers, hardware interfaces (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, RS-422), and avionics integration.
- Demonstrated capability building SIL/HITL frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and hardware bring-up/debug workflows.
Preferred
- Experience with SDRs, optical payloads, spacecraft comm protocols, FDIR design, and integrating vendor SDKs into flight stacks.
- Familiarity with spacecraft operations, security for space-to-ground links, and participation in launch/commissioning activities.
- Competitive compensation with equity and performance bonuses; comprehensive healthcare and 401(k) matching.
- Small, mission-driven engineering teams with strong ownership, fast decision cycles, and direct impact on first missions to orbit.
- Hands-on exposure to end-to-end spacecraft development, from silicon and avionics to on-orbit operations and scaling to constellations.
We seek engineers who thrive on solving hard systems problems, take ownership of reliability at every level, and are comfortable working in-person in Palo Alto or relocating to join a high-velocity hardware-software team. Apply to be part of shipping the infrastructure that will enable connected space services worldwide.
