This job is primarily responsible for working at a warehouse facility that receives and dispatches merchandise to and from our warehouse. Responsibilities include loading and unloading outgoing and incoming delivery vehicles. You will select products from the warehouse, load, and secure goods to pallets, move inventory to the delivery area, and load merchandise. You will unload stock from delivery vehicles, and transport it to and store in designated warehouse positions. You will always keep your work environment clean and tidy and comply with all relevant safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE for the task being performed.
  • Load, unload and/or sort packages of varying sizes and weights by hand and/or by operating a forklift.
  • Perform package counting and researching discrepancies.
  • Use equipment to track, monitor and verify products for distribution.
  • Maintain a clean work area to keep products and merchandise clean and help prevent work-related injuries.
  • Verify received products against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and any obvious damages.
  • Ensure the correct product is directed to the correct storage areas.
  • Operate, run, and monitor a variety of heavy equipment, where applicable (e.g., forklift).
  • Perform needed preventative maintenance on equipment, where applicable.
  • Complete documentation timely, accurately, and legibly.
  • Other duties as assigned; includes all general housekeeping of the work area(s).

Qualifications

  • Education: Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Required – None. Preferred - 1 year of warehouse experience with a dependable work record; experience operating additional heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
    • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
    • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
    • Ability to complete documentation requirements.
    • Able to follow direction and to use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
    • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
    • Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned task.
    • Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
    • Ability to multi-task to handle multiple priorities.
    • Ability to safely maneuver equipment in tight spaces.
    • Ability to operate a dolly, forklift, hand trucks and pallet jacks.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift/push/pull/carry 150 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and balance.
  • Acutely aware of surroundings with ability to quickly adjust to a signal or change in environment.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio.
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to perform work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.
  • Uses peripheral vision and depth perception for tasks being performed.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here is representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment. Travel, 5-20% travel, may be required at some facilities and may include off-site training and/or work at alternate locations.

Compensation

The expected base pay range for this role is $18.00 - $24.00 per hour. Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.
