The Low Bed Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy machinery and oversized loads using a low bed trailer. This role requires adherence to all safety regulations, precise navigation of challenging routes, and timely delivery of equipment to various job sites.

Essential Functions

• Committed to serve. Operate and drive a low bed truck to transport heavy equipment and oversized loads to and from job sites.
• Protect family and friends. Ensure the secure loading and unloading of equipment, following proper safety protocols.
• Efficiency. Inspect and maintain the truck and trailer to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Safety always wins. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Ownership and caring. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any issues or necessary repairs.
• Results matter. Keep accurate records of deliveries, including logs of working hours, mileage, and any incidents.
• Respect and engage. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
• Obligated. Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, maintenance, and operations.
• Focused. Assist with the rigging and securing of loads as necessary.
• Dedication. Perform minor maintenance and repairs on the truck as needed.
  
  

Requirements, Education And Experience

• CDL Class A with DOT medical certificate; required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience driving heavy trucks, with specific experience in low bed or heavy equipment transport preferred.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations.
• Excellent driving record with no recent violations.
• Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment for loading and unloading purposes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor truck maintenance.
• High level of coordination and awareness
• Proficient verbal and written English
• Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel

Position will require regular travel in company owned vehicle within New York state and New England based on the needs of the business.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This position works in a construction environment. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
