A 1099 tow truck driver is a self-employed, independent contractor responsible for providing towing and roadside assistance services, managing their own equipment, scheduling, and business operations.
Key duties include:
- Responding to calls for disabled or illegally parked vehicles.
- Safely operating and maintaining a tow truck.
- Securing and transporting vehicles.
- Completing paperwork and maintaining strong customer service and communication skills.
Schedule: Availability to work Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays required!
Vehicle Transportation: Safely operate a tow truck to pick up and transport vehicles that are disabled, damaged, or involved in an accident.
Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, minor repairs, and cleaning of their own tow truck and equipment.
Paperwork & Documentation: Complete job logs, service reports, and financial paperwork for each tow.
Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients, dispatchers, and emergency personnel.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations during towing operations and while driving.
Skills and Qualifications
- Light Commercial Class D License or CDL.
- Strong driving skills, familiarity with towing procedures, basic vehicle mechanics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with navigation systems and dispatch software.

Requirements:
