Job purpose

K-Five is looking for a driver with the following experience: Lowboy for day and evening shifts. This role may also be utilized to drive a Semi-Dump Truck. As part of the support team for our many crews drivers will be responsible for loading, hauling and delivering equipment and materials to and from our construction locations, plants and job sites in a timely and safe manner following all federal and state laws.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Experience in Lowboy with knowledge of loading and unloading equipment and materials to and from an assortment of construction projects and location.
  • Demonstrated commitment to follow all safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment for themselves and coworkers, as well as the public.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Follow directions of supervisor/dispatcher as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 1-year experience in Lowboy operations.
  • Experience hauling asphalt and debris utilizing a Semi-Dump Truck is a plus.
  • Must have a valid class A CDL Driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records check with no DUIs within past five years.
  • All driver positions are contingent upon passing a background check and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to successfully pass random drug/alcohol testing (DOT).
  • Must be able to work long hours, including nights and weekends, as well as overtime as required.
  • Good with directions.

Working conditions

  • Exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.
  • Employee can be exposed to hot and cold environments and night time driving.
  • Periodic exposure to high levels of noise and a variety of substances typically associated with a construction project such as oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt, and ready mixed concrete.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
  • Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of load binding devices.
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely at all times.
  • Ability to work extended schedule during evening hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
