General Purpose: The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a greeting; thanks them at the register.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customers and follows up on Service calls; resolves issues courteously or escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain store areas and high-touch surfaces.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information and maintains security of cash and merchandise.
  • Follows policies and procedures for transactions and cash handling with accuracy and urgency.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom associates: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
