General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional; recognizes fellow Associates per company programs.
- Assists Customers in any way necessary; is register-trained; helps with merchandise; greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and polite interactions; thanks customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt responses to Customers; responds to Service calls; resolves issues courteously and with leadership involvement when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and replenishing duties to maintain store and facilities to standards.
- Maintains professional appearance and dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, organized store.
- Receives and merchandises newly received merchandise to the floor per guidelines and maintains brand familiarity within departments.
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information and assets.
- Follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals.
- Handles cash, checks, cards, refunds, and transactions with accuracy and awareness.
- Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds (and more for certain roles).
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
