General Purpose


The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best-practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve our Customer service and operational goals.



Essential Functions



  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.

  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Keeps clutter-free egress to emergency exits and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.

  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.

  • Assists Customers in any way necessary—is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers Customer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets all Customers by making eye contact, smiling, and saying hello throughout the Store as well as saying thank you at checkout.

  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer inquiries. Responds to Customer Service calls immediately and escalates issues to Store Leadership when needed.

  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.

  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and replenishes restroom supplies to help maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.

  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company’s dress code.

  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.

  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.

  • Understands Loss Prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.

  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.

  • Follows MOS policies, including identification of MOS merchandise and proper processing and disposal with Store Leadership review where required.

  • Follows all policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids and offline procedures, maintaining accuracy when handling transactions.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform their role and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required



  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.



Physical Requirements/Ada



  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.

  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.

  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.

  • Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.

  • Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
