General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include making eye contact, smiling, greeting customers, treating colleagues with respect, following company best practices, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all store areas as needed and may be asked to undertake additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Observe safety as the number one priority and practice safe behaviors
• Maintain a safe, secure sales floor; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership
• Offer respectful, friendly, and professional service; recognize fellow associates via company programs
• Assist customers, be register-trained, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers throughout the store
• Provide prompt responses to customer service calls and escalate to Store Leadership when needed
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times
• Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store areas and restrooms
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code
• Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and well-merchandised
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor per guidelines and maintain brand familiarity
• Understand Loss Prevention policies and store protection standards
• Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information
• Follow MOS policies and proper disposal processes with Store Leadership approval
• Follow cash, check, charge, refunds, voids and offline procedures with accuracy
• Work with a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices

Qualifications and Special Skills

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly and cooperative manner
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, and stoop
• Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; some assignments may require other qualifications
• Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds
