General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform tasks in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all duties.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello; thank customers at checkout.
  • Assist Customers; be register-trained, assist with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Provide prompt responses to Customer Service calls; address issues courteously and involve a Store Leader when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain store areas and merchandise appearance.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly guidelines; maintain merchandise/brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and protect confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposition of MOS merchandise with Store Leadership review.
  • Follow cash handling policies and ensure accuracy in transactions and refunds.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
