JOB TITLE: Data Analyst
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) initiatives through data analysis and management.
Analytics Duties
- Software development and database management, including: utilizing Python, Java, and high-level languages such as C#, C++ in database environments; working with FAA flight and trajectory databases such as Aviation System Performance Metrics (ASPM), Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS), Performance Data Analysis and Reporting System (PDARS), National Offload Program (NOP) radar data, Terminal Arrival Efficiency Rate (TAER); using traditional RDBMS and Big Data systems/tools like Apache Hadoop, NoSQL; applying modern software development concepts including Object-Oriented (OO) and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA); managing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data/system architectures.
- Data analysis, including: formulating and applying mathematical modeling and optimization methods to develop and interpret information supporting management decision-making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions; collecting and analyzing data; developing decision support software, services, and products; identifying errors in large, complex data sets; diagnosing root causes and planning error corrections; applying statistical analysis tools and techniques; using modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab and R; analyzing trajectory data; developing streamlined backend data architectures for rapid analytics; and data visualization using tools like Tableau and ArcGIS.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field, and three years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, or project coordinator involving: Agile and Waterfall methodologies in the software development lifecycle; data visualization with Tableau and ArcGIS; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel. Background check required. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is permitted.

Salary: $148,221 - $160,000 per year.
