Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our growing team. The hire will be responsible for designing, curating, communicating, and optimizing data models and data architecture for reporting and analytics. The Data Analyst will support application experts, software developers, database architects, and data engineers in building functional data assets and products to meet user and application requirements. Candidates should be comfortable supporting multiple teams, systems, and products, and excited about optimizing or redesigning data architecture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with stakeholders including executive, product, data, and design teams to understand data requirements.
- Design and create data models that meet business needs in an agile environment.
- Collaborate on best practices and standards for data analysis at NISC.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for specific business domains.
- Analyze relationships between data fields and tables.
- Mentor and enable other data analysts.
- Build and maintain business metrics and visualizations.
- Perform analysis using BI tools and methodologies.
- Work with data scientists on advanced data needs.
- Support data governance activities.
- Create data models, relationships, and schemas.
- Work with data professionals to improve data functionality and security.
- Engage with product owners and stakeholders to define data and business logic.
- Translate requirements and collaborate with data engineers and developers.
- Test, validate, and document deliverables.
- Maintain data models and business requirements documentation.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within the team.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- 5+ years in data analysis or related roles.
- Experience analyzing data requirements across functional areas.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience creating visualizations and communicating insights.
- Strong skills in analyzing unstructured data.
- Degree in a quantitative field; experience with cloud analytics environments and relational/NoSQL databases.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Python, R, DAX, or similar tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to perform under pressure.
Work Schedule:
- Hybrid work model at one of our office locations: Cedar Rapids, IA; Lake Saint Louis, MO; Mandan, ND.
- Minimum 3 days/week in-office, with flexibility up to 5 days.
- Required in-office days: Tuesday and Wednesday; third day flexible.
