The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) supports customers across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets, providing analytical and programmatic capabilities to inform decision-making. JOID assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing technologies to counter WMD, supporting military and civilian operations with expertise in CBRNE, counter-threat, and test/evaluation activities.

We are seeking a Data Analyst to provide onsite support at SPA's Lorton, VA facility (near Fort Belvoir).

Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will leverage advanced data analytics, statistical modeling, and visualization skills to support decision-making across scientific and operational programs. Responsibilities include working with complex datasets, performing exploratory and predictive analyses, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and designing dashboards and reports using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau. The role also involves automating workflows, documenting methods, and presenting findings to technical teams and leadership. Strong communication skills and industry knowledge are essential to transform data into actionable solutions supporting the warfighter.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in data analytics, data science, or related field with 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive modeling
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL, Tableau, and similar tools
  • Ability to transform and integrate large datasets from multiple sources
  • Proven ability to communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of regulated industries like biotechnology and pharmaceuticals
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret clearance
  • Ability to work onsite as required

Desired Skills

  • Experience designing predictive models with advanced machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms (IBM Watson Studio, Spotfire, etc.)
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, compliance, and process improvement
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with the Chemical Biological Defense Program (CBDP)
