The International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) is seeking a Research Data Analyst who will provide research support to the Zambia Evaluation & Research of 0-Dose (ZER0-D) Strategies to More Effectively Target Measles Zero-Dose Children project. The research data analyst will primarily focus on a study assessing the feasibility and effectiveness of school vaccination checks in identifying under-vaccinated children. Their work will primarily focus on i) developing and scaling an analytic approach that estimates age-specific hazard of school enrollment from Demographic and Health Survey data for countries in the African and Asian regions, ii) creating a framework for characterizing the potential impacting of school entry checks and vaccination on population susceptibility and outbreak risk, and iii) supporting the use of these estimates as input parameters into disease transmission models. The research data analyst will be responsible for engaging with stake holders and generating visual outputs of deliverables in coordination with VIEW-hub, IVAC’s online, interactive, map-based platform for visualizing data on vaccine use and impact. The individual will also be involved in a school-based serosurvey to measure susceptibility to measles virus among school-aged children.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the study Principal Investigators and research team members to support the conduct of the research.
  • Identify and use public open data sources (e.g., Demographic and Health Surveys, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation) and other research data sources.
  • Visualize data to explore trends and relationships.
  • Conduct quantitative analyses including survival analyses.
  • Compile results from analyses for presentations, dissemination summary reports, and manuscripts.
  • Help to produce resources and programming code that is generalizable to a range of country contexts, including an R package.
  • Support development and maintenance of a REDCap database.
  • Support data cleaning and data management, including preparation of data summary reports as data collection is in progress.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report study findings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related discipline (public health, epidemiology, statistics/biostatistics).
  • Familiarity with Demographic and Health Survey data.
  • Data management experience, including experience with REDCap, electronic data collection programs, or other databases.
  • Statistical background and knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate findings in meetings.

Starting Salary Range: Min $47,500 - Max $83,300 Annually ($65,400 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
