At Jetstar, we are seeking an experienced and driven Data Business Analyst to lead data and analytics initiatives within the Commercial and Operations Domains, focusing on the Engine Capex Optimisation initiative. This role combines strong data analysis and BI skills with deep business analysis expertise, working across technical and business teams to define KPIs, business rules, and data solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to unlock customer data supporting Finance analytics and reporting needs.
The goal of this role is to maximize the value of data assets by enabling better finance understanding, smarter decisions, and improved program outcomes. Working closely with data product leads, analytics engineers, and business teams, the Data Business Analyst will align initiatives with business goals, drive discovery, and ensure the delivery of high-quality analytics solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead discovery efforts to understand needs (business rules, metrics, KPIs) and translate them into analytics and data requirements with stakeholders
- Collaborate with Finance and data product teams to define data products and semantic layers
- Work with external vendors and finance teams to support solution delivery
- Elicit, define, document, and model requirements (business, product, functional, non-functional) and processes (as-is, to-be)
- Facilitate Agile practices such as sprint planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Serve as a trusted data advisor to stakeholders, supporting strategic and operational use of Finance data
- Support creation of business semantic layers for easier access to trusted data
- Evaluate solutions with data teams, define acceptance criteria, and ensure business needs are met
To be considered, you will have:
- Experience working in Agile environments and leading cross-functional data teams
- Experience creating BRD, HLD, LLD artifacts
- Knowledge of data testing, reference data management, and data quality practices
- Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud platforms like Snowflake (advantageous)
- Familiarity with ERP, EPM, DBT for data transformation and modeling
- Understanding of accounting principles and finance (advantageous)
- Experience with Power BI for dashboards and analytics
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred)
