Description

The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible with interacting with end users across the organization to develop, implement, maintain, analyze and or update requested reports. Reports can be clinical or non-clinical in nature providing insight into clinical workflows, operations, quality, finance or other needs as required. Reports can be disseminated either as static (one-time, Ad hoc) or dynamic (recurring, Data Visualizations) via multiple pathways (Epic, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.). The report writer will be responsible for developing specifications for, and writing individual reports to satisfy facility and enterprise reporting needs. Ad hoc reporting tasks include one-time SQL queries, troubleshooting, restarting and creating report subscriptions, investigating the logic used in existing reports to determine what type of data populates the report, and researching reports within our EMR Vendor, Epic, for possible implementation and or updates.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

2. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct.

3. M akes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.

4. Demonstrates the standards of performance and behaviors consistent with the DRIVE to Patient-Centered Excellence.

5. Evaluates user’s needs and requests for data and reports relative to current systems and available technologies and applications.

6. Evaluates processes as requested and recommends re-engineering around utilization of computerized applications to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

7. Participates in training offered on assigned applications, develop expert understanding of application functionality.

8. Serves as liaison with user departments in resolving system/application issues.

9. Evaluates problem situations in depth, arrives at independent conclusions and coordinates problem resolution for issues related to information systems use and implementation within the department, among departments and disciplines with medical staff and outside vendors

10. Assists in the development of testing scenarios to assure the functionality and integrity of system enhancements and upgrades.

11. Provides on-going analysis, maintenance, and technical / functional support for information systems throughout the organization. Identify system deficiencies and analyze system problems and solutions. Independently comes to conclusions and implements corrective action.

12. Develop familiarity with data dictionary / field definitions for appropriate applications. Develop ability to generate complex SQL queries as requested by user departments.

13. Creating content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle. Configuring and testing Epic-released and Foundation System content for all applications - Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and Radar.

14. Analyzes needs for data integration and participate in the definition and design of complex interfaces within disparate computer applications assuring integration and integrity of clinical and financial information throughout the organization.

15. Create, manage, and maintain data visualization dashboards

16. Assist with e development of downtime procedures for computerized applications and evaluate the effectiveness to assure that hospital remains functional during times when applications are not available for use.

17. Remains abreast of new developments in the area of healthcare, healthcare information systems and staff education by participating in continuing education programs, conferences and by review of literature and periodicals.

18. Remains up to date on techniques and best practices for meaningful data visualization dashboard development strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Required
  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, Data Visualization or a related field of study.
  • License/Certification/Registration(s) Required
  • None
  • Experience/Skills Required
  • Experience writing and analyzing SQL queries – MS SQL, Oracle
  • Healthcare related experience a plus
  • Experience with MS Visio and data flow charting
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
  • Developing business and functional requirements based on business needs
  • Understanding of a wide range of interpretive analysis tools (e.g. trend analysis, spreadsheets, comparisons, graphs, summary versus detail charts, drill down, correlations, exception analysis)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical partners
  • Strong Analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills required.
  • Attention to detail, patience, and appositive, customer centric attitude are required.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
