General Construction Worker Job at ZipRecruiter in New Braunfels

Our growing company is looking for a hard-working and skilled construction worker to help bring our construction plans to life! Under our construction manager’s direction, you will work alongside a team of other skilled laborers and tradesmen, applying your knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment to keep the project on track. Compensation: $18 - $20 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Assist tradesmen, sub-contractors, and craft workers such as painters, roofers, plasterers, carpenters, and electricians as needed
• Follow all directions from the construction manager and collaborate with team members to complete projects accurately
• Properly dispose of debris and hazardous materials to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with OSHA regulations
• Build temporary structures like signs, cones, barricades, ramps, and control traffic around the site; tear down old structures as needed
• Transport, carry, and unload tools and materials such as sheetrock, lumber, tile, saws, and grout

• Assist in playground site preparation, including excavation, grading, and drainage
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications for accurate installation of playground equipment
• Safely assemble, install, and anchor playground structures, swings, slides, and other components following manufacturer guidelines
• Work with project managers, designers, and team members to ensure quality and timely project completion
• Operate construction tools and equipment like drills, saws, and compactors safely and effectively
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment for safety and functionality
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, disposing of materials and debris properly

Qualifications:

• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions such as extreme temperatures and rain
• High school diploma or GED required; trade certification, associate’s degree, or completed apprenticeship preferred
• Strong mechanical skills, good eye-hand coordination, and depth perception
• Experience on construction sites, understanding blueprints and plans, and knowledge of tools and methods
• Physical stamina and strength essential

• Minimum of 2 years of construction or related experience
• Knowledge of construction techniques, tools, and materials
• Ability to operate construction equipment and machinery
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail, safety, and quality focus
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
