This is an entry level position. FiberTel, LLC is a fully owned subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE: PWR), focused on utility construction and fiber optics installation. The company operates in Utah, the Northwest and Western regions, and provides a turnkey experience for clients. This role involves supporting all phases of utility construction for telecom projects and performing general labor duties as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • All phases of telecommunication construction including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of construction materials and equipment.
  • Hand dig using shovel or mechanical tools.
  • Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Work in congested or remote areas with safety coordination with crew members and moving vehicles/objects.
  • Perform general construction work under the direction of Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Learn all aspects of the crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
  • Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
  • Lift heavy equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

What You\'ll Bring

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.
  • A good driving record is required.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry.
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunication construction.
  • Ability to travel.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operating outdoors is regularly exposed to weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. Work environment may vary by day and location. Exposure to natural gas and risk of electrical shock may occur. Moderate to loud noise levels.

The role requires standing for long periods (up to 12 hours), tolerance of extreme weather, ability to understand safety instructions, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are required.
