The Construction Service Crew Member is an active member of a team repairing building projects that provide a positive construction experience for the customer. This position helps the construction team promote a positive attitude, set and meet goals, and achieve company objectives.

Responsibilities

• Learn, keep current with and apply Morton Buildings’ safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards to every building, every day
• Read, understand, and build according to construction plans
• Efficiently execute tasks to complete a quality building (repairing) including but not limited to: sliding door, walk door and window replacement; residing and roofing; replacing skylights; rotten post and splashboard repairs; gutters and downspouts; and general building maintenance such as digging and installing footings, framing walls and roof structures, installing windows and doors, and various siding and roofing materials including hi-rib steel, shingles, wood, and masonry units; finishing with metal and wood trims
• Operate construction hand tools and other specialized equipment safely and effectively
• Display flexibility to adapt to a variable work schedule and work in various weather conditions (hot and cold)
• Work in a physically demanding environment with high climbing and heavy lifting
• Collaborate with crew personnel in a safe, organized, productive, and respectful environment
• Adapt to different types of repairs and think creatively to solve problems
• Ability to troubleshoot or problem solve
• Willing to advance and help organize materials and plan daily activities

Qualifications

• Building construction (post-frame), carpentry or framing experience preferred (on the job or in school)
• Willingness to participate in and complete a training program
• A valid driver’s license is preferred; Class A CDL is highly desired
• Available to work 9–10 hours during peak construction season
• Ability to take direction and produce quality work efficiently
• Agree to comply with all safety processes and procedures; maintain and operate construction tools safely
• Ability to operate specialized safety equipment effectively
• Standard weight lifting requirements: 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
• Capable of working in a physically demanding environment and at heights up to 40 feet
• Travel up to 15%, including overnight travel possibly up to two weeks at a time
