Construction & Traffic Control Worker / Brookhaven — Lehman-Roberts, A Granite Company

This opportunity is for a Construction and Traffic Control Worker located in Brookhaven, MS. The primary duties include traffic control and assisting the crew with asphalt tasks such as shoveling, raking, and sweeping asphalt materials.

Responsibilities

• Set up cones, barrels, signs, temporary barricades, and other traffic control and safety devices; load, unload, and maintain these devices.


• Safely flag and direct traffic.


• Assist with placement, movement, and dismantling of traffic control devices such as signs, barricades, and cones.


• Perform site checks and monitor traffic behavior and flow to maintain safety at all times.


• Follow directions from the foreman for daily tasks; work with leaders, state DOT inspectors, auditors, and officials as needed.


• Collaborate with the foreman, crew members, and management as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma preferred.


• Work Experience: 1 year of road construction and paving experience or other commercial construction experience; thorough understanding of asphalt paving and roadway construction fundamentals.


• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers; comply with safety initiatives; remain alert and follow safe work practices; stay calm in challenging situations.


• Additional Requirements/Skills: 18 years of age or older; valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation; willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.


• Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces; ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds; occasional shoveling, raking, and sweeping of asphalt materials; good close vision and ability to adjust focus; exposure to loud noises, dust, and odors at job sites.
