Through its wholly owned subsidiaries, American States Utility Services, Inc. contracts with the federal government to provide water and wastewater services on military installations across the United States. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform activities related to water and wastewater system utility construction under close supervision.
  • Observe and comply with all safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Report unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct physical construction tasks such as excavating trenches, pipe laying, backfilling, soil compaction, and water/wastewater main testing.
  • Work safely, following all standards of performance. Work is repetitive and continuous.
  • Ensure safe working conditions, including trench safety and bracing.
  • Construct and maintain erosion control devices as required.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute utility materials per project plans.
  • Signal equipment operators for machinery alignment and movement.
  • Operate machinery as directed for water and wastewater construction.
  • Prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of water and wastewater system construction experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License issued by the state where employed.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools preferred.
  • Must pass OSHA and state safety training with annual refresher courses.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces, noisy environments, and areas with chemicals.
  • Stand, sit, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, reach, handle, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, balance, and have good vision and hearing.

COMPENSATION:

Pay range varies based on skills, experience, education, and certifications. U.S. Citizenship and passing a background check are required.
