Job Summary:

This Sr. Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager will oversee the planning, design, and execution of complex water/wastewater projects, ensuring technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory standards. They will serve also as a technical leader and mentor, guiding junior engineers and field staff, while also coordinating with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and quality control measures.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including resolving field engineering issues.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to maintain strong communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior engineers and field crews—emphasizing not just how to perform tasks, but the why behind them.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with a water/wastewater general contractor.
  • Strong technical expertise in water infrastructure construction
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects from design through construction.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in training, mentoring, and developing engineering staff and field personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships.
