Job Purpose

The Project Manager at Chicago Scenic Studios is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of scenic design and production projects. This role ensures projects complete on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end project management, from initial planning to final delivery. • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations. • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution. • Research, procure, and manage materials, products, and services. • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track. • Maintain accurate project documentation, including budgets, schedules, and purchase orders. • Communicate project updates and milestones to stakeholders. • Conduct occasional on-site visits to oversee production or installation. • Mentor and guide junior team members, including Project Coordinators.
Qualifications / Skills / Requirements
  • Proven leadership and project management experience in a dynamic deadline based environment. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills. • Advanced organizational and time management abilities. • Ability to solve complex problems and adapt under pressure. • Deep understanding of scenic design, production processes, and industry standards. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software • Experience with procurement software is a plus. • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., project management, theater production, design, or business) or equivalent professional experience. • Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably in theater production, or a related industry. • PMP or similar certification is a plus but not required.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting with frequent collaboration in production facilities. • Occasional visits to client sites or production venues • Requires moderate physical activity, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. • May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines.
  • This role requires the ability to come to CSSI Property 5 days a week. Not a remote role.

Compensation: Based on experience, with a salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
