Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant
FLSA Status: Exempt
About the Role:
The Senior Manufacturing Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, cost accounting, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. They analyze financial data, prepare reports, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement within the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulations.
- Cost Accounting:
Calculating and analyzing product costs, including direct and indirect costs, overhead, and variances. This also involves tracking inventory valuation and collaborating on cost-saving opportunities.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitoring actual performance against targets, and identifying variances.
- Inventory Management:
Overseeing inventory valuation, ensuring accuracy and validity, and potentially working with inventory management systems.
- Compliance and Internal Controls:
Ensuring adherence to accounting principles, standards, and regulations, participating in audits, and implementing internal controls.
- Process Improvement:
Identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline manufacturing-related financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaboration:
Working with other departments like sales, engineering, and operations to support financial initiatives and provide guidance.
- Supervision:
Potentially mentoring junior staff and reviewing their work.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Syteline and other relevant accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with internal and external audits.
