We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing accurate financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in various accounting software. The Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's financial health and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including daily bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, profit and loss statements) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with tax compliance, including federal, California state, and local tax filings, audits, and optimization strategies, collaborating with external vendors.
- Support headquarters with budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost management initiatives.
- Review contracts, manage vendor payments and client invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain accurate financial records and archives, using accounting software for data entry and reporting.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to address inquiries and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IRS regulations, and California state financial regulations.
- Perform additional accounting-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in a small business, startup, or renewable energy environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and California tax regulations, including sales tax, income tax, and compliance obligations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-financial team members.
- Fluency in English written and verbal
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
