We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to work within our operations and support strategic decision-making in a dynamic construction environment.

As the Construction Accountant, you’ll play a key role in contributing to the company’s financial health, handling everything from job cost tracking and contractor reconciliations to dashboard reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

· Organize Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring timely and accurate processing.

· Handle reconciliation of invoices, payments, and retainage with contractors and subcontractors.

· Track and analyze job costs, vendor invoices, and subcontractor billing to ensure accuracy and project profitability.

· Maintain and reconcile project budgets and cost allocations.

· Collaborate with project managers to validate contract values, change orders, and billing schedules.

· Maintain financial dashboards for real-time visibility into key metrics (e.g. cash flow, job profitability, expenses).

· Prepare and submit financial reports for internal and external stakeholders

· Ensure compliance with internal controls and construction-specific accounting standards.

· Continuously improve accounting workflows and reporting systems.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field

· Experience in construction or a related field is a plus

· 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with a background in construction-related data entry or bookkeeping.

· Solid understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, retention, and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, G702, etc.

· Strong experience with account reconciliations, including contractors and project accounts.

· Proficient with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar.

· Skilled in Excel and/or Smartsheets

· Analytical, detail-oriented, and effective in a deadline-driven environment.

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
