Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial health of the organization by ensuring accurate accounting practices, compliance with company policies, and effective financial reporting. This role will oversee daily accounting functions, support audits, assist with budgeting, and provide guidance to accounting staff. The Senior Accountant will partner closely with leadership teams to support operational goals and drive financial excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts, journal entries, and financial statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to accounting staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, payroll, and finance leaders, to support business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and financial reporting efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field OR 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in food service, hospitality, retail, or education preferred.
- Supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, primarily office-based with potential for hybrid flexibility depending on business needs.
- May require occasional extended hours during month-end close, audits, or peak business cycles.
