We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various internal and external audits. This position requires a strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and general ledger accounting. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.

This is remote role and we prefer candidates from the DC - Metro Area

Roles and Responsibilities

• Maintain and process Accounts Payable, dealing with a large volume of 1099 payments on a semi-monthly basis.
• Maintain and process Payroll.
• Handle online banking payments, including international banking.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain documentation for audit support and ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Assist the Controller with special projects, process improvements, and implementation of accounting policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information and proper coding of transactions.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger functions.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis tools.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in [industry – e.g., SaaS, manufacturing, professional services].
• Local to DC - Metro Area (Highly Preferred)
