TITLE: Accountant – Crude Supply & Trading
CLIENT: Global Energy & Trading Company
LOCATION: Houston, TX (Onsite/Open Trade Floor Environment)
TYPE: 6 month Contract (with potential extension)
SALARY or RATE: $35-40/hour DOE
URGENCY: Interviewing soon; End of Sept start preferred
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Accountant to join our Crude Supply & Trading team. This role will support critical accounting functions including monthly close activities, reconciliations, invoicing, settlements, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, open trade floor environment. Experience with SAP and a background in energy trading are a plus.
DUTIES:
Perform monthly balancing and reconciliations.
Prepare invoices and customer purchase statements for settlement.
Manage intercompany transactions and settlements.
Create and post SAP journal entries, accruals, and netbacks; reconcile physical inventories.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Provide accounting support and analysis for monthly close and FP&A.
Prepare and submit regulatory reporting.
Participate in special projects related to Crude Supply & Trading.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in an accounting or finance-related role.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong initiative, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work additional hours during close and settlement cycles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of SAP.
Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams.
Continuous improvement mindset.
CMA or CGA designation.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
