Accountant
C.V. Starr & Co., Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general accounting, with some knowledge/experience in investment accounting. This role requires 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience with Workday general ledger software is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
General Accounting Duties:
- Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded timely & accurately.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Audit and Compliance:
- Assist with preparation of various support schedules.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Implement and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel.
- Proficiency in using accounting software, preferably Workday.
- Basic understanding of GAAP reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
