Overview

Kemin Biologics is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for computing and preparing data for journal entries, reviewing general ledger accounts and financial statements for accuracy, and gathering financial information for the preparation of statements, ledgers, reports, and tax filings. You will also assist in generating financial reports and support the monthly closing process. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic finance team while developing your professional skills in a collaborative environment. This position is onsite at our corporate headquarters located in Des Moines, Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Enter timely and accurate journal entries.
  • Assist in month-end close procedures.
  • Reconcile assigned accounts and posting of payable/receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage time to ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Follow and document processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments and business units to resolve transaction issues.
  • Provide analysis of business transactions (customer accounts, AP & AR aging, OPEX, manufacturing costs, and sales scorecard).
  • Provide accurate data consistently.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 0-2 years of related experience OR High School Diploma with 2-4 years of related experience
  • Ability to read, write, and handle basic math problems
  • Detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn new computer applications
  • Ability to see and read numbers
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and a high level of accountability
