SUMMARY:This position is under the general supervision of the Controller or Chief Financial Officer. Provides backup for the Accounts Payable Specialist and Staff Accountant positions in the Accounting Department. Reconciles SDMI bank account statements. Maintains fixed asset listing, maintains and reconciles equipment leases, operating leases and reconciliation of general ledger accounts associated with assets, leases and notes payable. This position is also responsible for reconciliation of the inventory account to the general ledger, and ensures the PO’s are recorded and closed properly. Maintains prepaid expenses, accrued expenses and properly amortizes monthly expense amounts and reconciles to the general ledger. Maintains various spreadsheets and accounting records necessary to perform duties. Assists with month end and year-end processes, including account analysis and preparation of supporting documentations for annual financial statement review. Assist Controller and perform daily critical duties as backup to the Controller. May also perform other job related duties for the efficient operation of SDMI.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or other closely related field.
· 3 to 5 Years strong technical accounting to include supervisory experiences.
· Public accounting experience preferred.
· Ability to exercise critical thinking and problem solving skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong PC skills- Microsoft and Great Plains Dynamics preferred.
· Ability to work independently.
· Pay attention to detail and accuracy.
· Maintain highest level of confidentiality.
· Flexible and self-motivated with sound judgement.
· Respond positively to changes in assignments and priorities.
· Assume responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
· Demonstrate punctuality by reporting to work on time/satisfactory attendance record that complies with SDMI attendance policy.
· Take full responsibility for all functions within job description and assure that all functions are completed before leaving SDMI at the end of the shift.
· Communicate effectively when follow up is needed.
· Work as an effective team member with co-workers and other personnel.
· Any employee who discovers, is directly involved in or is responding to an event/occurrence/risk is required to complete or direct the completion of an occurrence report within 24 hours of event/occurrence/risk.
· My job performance, including current competencies will be reviewed by my supervisor on a periodic basis. If my job performance/ current competencies are not (or continue to not be) at required level this could result in additional training and/or disciplinary action.
· Know and follow all SDMI safety and evacuation guidelines, policies and procedures.
