Position Overview

We are partnering with an industry-leading real estate redevelopment project in Brooklyn, NY, to hire a Senior Accountant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a transformative, mixed-use office and retail campus, housing diverse businesses and high-profile tenants, including the Brooklyn Nets headquarters. Experience in commercial real estate is highly preferred and will distinguish candidates in this competitive process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, conduct financial statement analytics, and implement policies to enhance automation and benchmarking.
• Perform forensic account analysis, prepare and review journal entries, oversee cash management, and reconcile bank statements.
• Consolidate financial data, assist in preparing financial statements, and collaborate with auditors.
• Provide financial insights for management decisions, oversee budgeting processes including automation with MRI software, and supervise accounts payable.
• Evaluate and improve accounting operations, internal controls, and software functionalities.
• Develop business performance metrics and support ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of tax and accrual reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with MRI Software and Spreadsheet Server is a plus.

Additional Details

Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on skills and experience. The role is full-time, mid-senior level, within the Accounting/Finance industry in Brooklyn, NY.
