We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the energy sector. This position will play a crucial role in our financial department, with a focus on intercompany transactions, consolidations, financial statement preparation, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a background in the oil and gas industry, a solid understanding of NetSuite, and a proven track record of managing complex financial operations. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, with plenty of room for career advancement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
• Prepare elimination and consolidating entries as part of the month-end close process.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to improve financial procedures and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
• Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions.
• Work closely with the finance team to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters.
• Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of financial instruments, market conditions, and trends.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or related field, with at least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in the energy sector, preferably in oil and gas.
• In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proven experience with financial statement preparation, intercompany entries, and consolidation.
• Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting software.
• Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards.
• Proven track record of leading projects/process improvement within operations/finance functions; able to drive projects from inception to completion.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office required.
