Smoking Sales LLC is hiring: Accountant in Jersey City

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• File business and related license applications and renewals.
• Conduct jurisdictional research and set-up for excise taxes and licenses.
• Prepare and file monthly excise tax returns and other financial obligations.
• Support facilitation of excise tax audits.
• Maintain tax systems in the supply chain.
• Oversee bookkeepers for reconciling bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
• Generate financial reports in line with laws, regulations, and GAAP.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and record maintenance.
• Assist management in budgeting processes.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and payable.
• Manage cash flow and protect reserves.
• Audit financial information for inconsistencies.
• Provide tax planning strategies compliant with legislation.
• Create financial forecasts and analyze risks.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience with tobacco and vapor excise taxes highly preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and SAP B1.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Proven ownership of processes or ability to create them.
• Interest and understanding of business functions.
• Application of proven accounting methods to various problems.
• Ability to review and correct own work.
• Understanding the impact of financial decisions.
• Strong analytical skills.
