Description

This is accounting work at the full performance level involving independent judgment, such as analyzing, interpreting, and recording data on financial transactions. Work includes performing specialized and responsible bookkeeping work, preparing cost and accounting reports and summaries, and may include responsibility for supervising the work of a clerical staff engaged in maintaining fiscal records on the performance of departmental programs and services.

Work is performed under the general supervision of an Accounting Supervisor or technical superior. Assignments require the use of evaluative thinking and are carried out in accordance with accepted accounting standards and applicable regulations. Employees in this class provide interpretative and consultative accounting services for use by higher-level accountants or administrators in taking action and/or formulating decisions based on financial data.

Requirements

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration

• Two years of accounting experience, which has involved recording financial transactions in both subsidiary and general ledgers and preparing financial reports from these ledgers

• Or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.
