Purpose of Position:
Under basic supervision, manages and maintains the integrity of the financial accounting system for Arizona operations; performs a wide range of accounting, technical review and general ledger functions; assists with audits and financial reporting in compliance with state and Federal regulations, corporate policies and procedures, and financial accounting standards.
Position Essential Functions:
Performs a wide range of accounting, technical review and general ledger functions; reviews, approves and posts documents and computer accounting entries; performs duties within scope of authority and training; duties may vary according to job assignment.
Reviews and reconciles accounting transactions, budget adjustments, and other financial activities; reviews financial and accounting records, assures GL integrity, corrects errors, and resolves accounting issues.
Monitors accounting documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with corporate policies and best practices; interprets requests and prepares journal entries.
Monitors budgets and expenditures and evaluates and reports anomalies and trends.
Assists accounting staff, and explains accounting rules, policies, and procedures; research financial issues and resolves problems within the scope of authority.
Collects and evaluates financial and administrative information, and compiles data for reports.
Develops and prepares internal and external financial reports, financial statements, and coordinates work with auditors as required.
Manages CWIP (Construction Work in Progress) accounts as assigned; updates and maintains statistical information, financial reports and related documents.
Assists in planning, implementing, training, and maintaining SAP software; interacts with SAP consultants to create best practices.
Manages and updates UMS (Utility Management Solutions) billing software accounting and tax (group) codes.
Assist with month and year-end closures.
Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and organization information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; AND five years accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles.
Business and personal computers, and financial spreadsheet software applications.
General ledger reconciliation standards.
Exceptional time management, communication and problem-solving skills.
