Our client, a dynamic private organization, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a lean but collaborative internal finance team. This newly created position will play a key role in supporting daily accounting functions, with an emphasis on month-end close and general ledger work. The role is ideal for someone who wants to strengthen their accounting experience while growing into expanded responsibilities over time in a mission-driven, hospitality-focused environment.

Compensation

  • Base pay range – $60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr
  • Salary – $65,000 - $70,000

Staff Accountant Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end close procedures, reconciliations, and workpapers.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals (understanding debits and credits).
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations.
  • Support general ledger maintenance and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve workflows and processes.
  • Contribute to department growth by taking on new responsibilities over time.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.

Staff Accountant Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency with accrual accounting concepts, debits/credits, and general ledger work.
  • Strong Excel skills (comfortable with formulas, spreadsheets, and reporting).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in hospitality, nonprofit, or membership-based environments a plus.
