Accountant responsibilities include reviewing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and managing the accounts payable and purchasing functions of the corporation. To be successful in this role, you should have previous accounting experience, strong business acumen, and excellent attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and purchasing transactions
- Handle business correspondence and documentation
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Manage accounts payable, purchasing, and receivable activities
- Ensure timely bank and vendor payments
- Review financial transactions for compliance with company policies
- Maintain financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups as needed
- Coordinate with personnel from related companies
- Follow financial policies, procedures, and regulations
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the President/CEO and Senior Accountant
Requirements and Skills:
- Previous experience as an Accountant
- Knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including GAAP; experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations is a plus
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Vlookups, pivot tables)
- Experience with general ledger functions, accounts payable, and purchasing
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CMA certification is advantageous
