Staff Accountant Opportunity

Mid-States Bolt & Screw, a trusted local fastener distributor, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our growing business and add to our great finance team! Based out of our corporate location in Burton, MI.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supporting business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare sales tax payments/track and add locations.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Assist accounts payable and receivable processes as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and policies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Epicor P21, PowerBI, PowerQuery a plus).
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
