About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with proven expertise in Accounts Receivable to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing our AR processes, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses strong analytical skills, and is adept at both hands-on accounting tasks and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable Management:
• Oversee the day-to-day accounts receivable function, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and reconciliations.
• Monitor 30-60-90 day AR aging and report on outstanding balances and trends.
• Manage the collection of outstanding invoices, resolving discrepancies and fostering positive relationships with clients.
• Ensure all monthly accounts receivable transactions are identified, completed, and reconciled accurately for month-end close activities.
• Process and apply cash receipts, utilizing lockbox reports and researching unidentified payments as needed.
• Review remittance information to ensure accurate application of payments to customer accounts and invoices.
• Reconcile daily lockbox deposits with the general ledger.
• Support and verify AR transactions requiring specific revenue recognition treatments, collaborating with technical accounting and revenue teams.
• Coordinate with other stakeholders to verify timing, delivery, and other billing/AR parameters for non-standard contracts.
• Handle customer requests for correspondence including statements, invoices, and credit memos.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to accounts receivable.
• Generate reports and provide financial analysis to management and key stakeholders.
• Perform account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies or variances promptly.
• Assist with the development and implementation of reporting mechanisms to track AR performance.
• Analyze customer arrangements and transactions to ensure correct revenue recognition.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve cash flow and reduce overdue accounts.
• Process Improvement and Compliance:
• Identify opportunities and execute initiatives to gain efficiencies through the use of technology and process improvement within the AR function.
• Establish and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information, particularly reconciliation controls.
• Collaborate with sales and accounting teams to document and improve daily cash applications, adjustments, and related processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and other relevant regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and providing information as requested.
• Act as a strategic partner by initiating and leading cross-functional initiatives to increase recurring revenue.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting accounts receivable management.
• Collaboration and Leadership:
• Liaise with internal departments (e.g., sales, customer service, billing) to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes.
• Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
• Foster a cohesive, positive, and results-driven team environment.
