Overview
Project Accountant role at Hoffman Construction Company. On-site location near Queen Creek, AZ. Report to the Lead Project Accountant and collaborate with the Project Accounting Team and other internal/external departments. Responsibilities include monitoring project progress, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-monthly subcontractor billings and all material invoices for the project.
- Process monthly subcontract billings and all material invoices for the project.
- Develop and maintain files, forms, purchase orders, subcontract files, meeting minutes, and related documents.
- Support bi-monthly billing to clients and quarterly accounting reports for the corporate office.
- Work with the Lead Project Accountant to obtain tax-related documentation to support subcontract billing and owners tax exemption requirements.
- Monitor and ensure data requirements are satisfied in accordance with established budgets and schedules.
- Track and report accounting indicators; manage technical information required to deliver projects.
- Copying, filing, and distribution of jobsite correspondence.
Qualifications, Skills, And Abilities
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or General Business Management preferred.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of accounting and/or office management experience in construction, engineering, or architectural fields; experience with cost accounting, AP/AR, contract administration, and invoice processing/auditing in construction preferred.
- Proficiency: Windows, Microsoft Office 365; advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, subtotalling); familiarity with Tier I accounting software or ERP; prior experience with Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise-One is desired.
- Skills: Strong team collaboration, excellent written and oral communication, ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure environments, and strong organizational skills.
Physical and Work Environment
- Essential functions include standing/walking/sitting, climbing stairs (about 20% of day), keyboard/mouse use, and ability to lift up to 50 lb.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and plan/organize work; maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
