Duties
You must successfully complete an intensive 8-10 week basic training conducted at Grand Coulee. (see Qualifications) (Travel/Transportation are covered by sponsoring organization) If applicant is unable to attend any part of the academy assigned, they will be removed from consideration.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a member of an armed tactical security force responsible for the protection of lives and property in and around Reclamation facilities and land from hazards.
- Serving as a member of a highly trained tactical response team.
- Maintaining proficiency in security procedures, regulations, orders, use of weapons, self-defense, vehicle operation, and first aid.
- Taking appropriate action under emergency situations to protect lives and property.
- Possessing and using special weapons, tactics, methods, and procedures to protect against terrorist attacks.
- Protecting against terrorist or criminal activities, vandalism, sabotage, trespass, theft, fire, accidents, willful damage, and destruction.
- Detaining violators of rules and regulations and turning them over to law enforcement authorities.
- Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and congestion.
- Enforcing rules governing physical security controls and facility access.
Requirements
You must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- Be suitable for federal employment, as determined by a background check.
- Submit a resume and supporting documents (see Required Documents).
- Provide eligibility documents for veterans consideration.
- Meet minimum education and/or experience requirements.
- Maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times.
- Wear the Reclamation-issued uniform while working.
- Pass a pre-employment physical exam and submit to drug testing.
- Travel approximately 10% of the time.
- Work more than 8 hours per day, including shift work, on-call, weekends, and holidays.
- Carry a firearm and certify no domestic violence convictions.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must have one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 in federal service, involving protection of property and persons, knowledge of weapons handling, and experience in security or law enforcement roles.
Volunteer experience and service in armed forces with guard duties are acceptable and credited.
