Security Guard Job at Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science in Evansvil

Overview

The Security Guard has primary responsibilities for the security of the facility, including artworks/artifacts and furnishings, the safety of the staff and visitors to the Museum, and response to emergency situations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

• Watching over the visitors, staff and museum collection, assets and equipment.


• Continuous patrols of the museum premises may include patrolling the outdoors during inclement weather.


• Directing and informing visitors.


• Directing traffic and wayfinding for visitors.


• Ensuring the protection of Museum buildings, exhibitions, and displays, as well as the safety of visitors and staff, in and around our special exhibitions. Ensure that guests adhere to Museum Visitor policies.


• Specific hours are required for all guards Thursday – Sunday 10:45am to 5:00pm. It may be necessary for a Guard to be scheduled earlier in the morning or later at night.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Dress professionally.


• Professional communication and customer service skills.


• Ability to work productively in a team environment.


• Ability to understand and carry out oral or written communications.


• High school diploma with knowledge of security and emergency procedures.


• Able to stand from 4 to 6 hours; ability to hear a normal conversation; lift and operate safely a fire extinguisher.


• Commitment to the values and mission of the Museum.

Additional Duties

• Works in collaboration with all departments of the Museum.


• Perform additional services as may be requested by the Administration, Building and Grounds or Curatorial Staff.
