Our Security Guard, also known as our Health Safety Ambassador (HSA) at UCSF Health, plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and secure environment across all UCSF Medical Center facilities. As a frontline representative of the Security Services team, the HSA supports the protection of patients, staff, visitors, and physical assets through proactive patrol, access control, safety surveillance, and timely response to incidents.
This position includes specific POST responsibilities, customer-focused engagement, and participation in events or special assignments that require professional security presence and public interaction. The role is also responsible for physically intervening in escalated situations and applying approved physical restraint techniques in accordance with hospital and UCPD policies and safety protocols.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range for this position is $31.15 to $41.92, with the entry point for new hires set at $31.15..
