We are seeking dedicated and reliable Security Guard to join our team and ensure the safety of our premises and personnel. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong observation abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment.
This role is full-time.
Friday-Sunday 6:00PM-6:00AM and every other Thursday from 2:00PM-10:00PM

Position Summary
The United Aviate Academy Campus Security Guard (CSG) maintains a high visibility presence on campus, promotes lawful behavior, and provides our students, employees, and guests the safest and most secure living, working, and learning environment possible. CSG's promote innovative security technologies, crime, and fire prevention techniques, and our Core4 service behavior's; Safe, Caring, Dependable, and Efficient. CSG's perform routine safety patrols, monitor security cameras, check-in visitors, respond to calls for service and critical incidents on campus. CSG's investigate incidents that occur on campus, complete incident reports, liaison with local public safety, and keep daily logs of the duties performed during their shift. The CSG reports directly to the Chief of Campus Security.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure all personnel entering buildings are properly identified to allow access
- Perform routine foot patrols around campus to deter criminal activity, identify and report security breaches and safety hazards, and investigate suspicious activities
- Monitor security cameras and take appropriate action in the event of disruptive or illegal activity
- Inspect all exits, doors, and windows to ensure buildings are secured
- Conduct interviews and preliminary investigations concerning campus incidents, accidents, and handbook violations
- Patrol parking areas, enforce parking rules, deterring criminal activity, and provide aid to students, staff, and guests as needed (jump start batteries, directions, etc.)
- Provides escorts to and from dorms, vehicles, and buildings
- Provide a rapid and tactical response to campus incidents
- Interact with UAA community in a caring and professional manner
- Aid students, employees, and guests during emergencies and drills
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and safety issues to the Chief of Campus Security
- Assist law enforcement, fire department, and emergency service as necessary
- Perform daily checks of all buildings, Fire Alarm Control Panels, and campus lighting
- Respond to alarms and react in a timely manner
- Create, program, and print ID badges
- Receive and distribute mail
- Welcome visitors and answer questions about the academy
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Arizona driver's license
- Must successfully pass a drug test
- Must pass United Aviate Academy's criminal background check
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- Retired law enforcement, prior law enforcement, fire fighter, EMS, military, or security background, preferred
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or college credits in Criminal Justice or related study, preferred

- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Arizona laws, safety and security procedures, crime prevention principles, and emergency response applicable to a higher education and a flight school environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to build strong professional relations internally with our community and with our business partners

- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position and daily responsibilities
- Have the stamina to work 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week, and an 8-hour shift every other week (Some shifts may require overnight and or weekends)
- Ability to remain calm and react effectively during critical situations
- Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills
- Effectively communicate in a professional manner to individuals who are agitated
- Ability to detect problems and be resourceful to resolve them in a positive manner
