Job Summary
Provides security services and guards industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Must abide by company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance is required.
Work Schedule:
Thursday 12 am to Thursday 6 am (6 hours)
Thursday 6pm to Friday 6am (12 Hours)
Friday 6pm to Saturday 6am (12 Hours)
Saturday 6pm to Sunday 6 am (12 Hours)
Total 42 Hours
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to, the following:
- Patrols the Concrete Industries Havelock construction complex, which includes buildings and grounds of the plant and business complex. Assures gates to the complex are open and closed at the appropriate times.
- Examines doors, windows, fences and gates to determine that they are secure. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. Informs appropriate personnel of problems or abnormal incidents as they occur.
- Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred. Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
- Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the plant grounds to assure authorized access. Determine why people are in the complex after hours. Takes appropriate action.
- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, or carrying forbidden articles. Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
- Operates Concrete Industries boiler/steam system as required for cold weather heat and/or curing of pre-stressed products.
- Monitors Concrete Industries curing system and informs lab or production personnel when problems occur. Assist in overnight testing procedures for the lab as required.
- Completes appropriate forms during the shift to support inspections and shift notes.
- Other duties may be assigned by Lab Manager, Chief Inspector or authorized company agent.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities
Education and/or Experience:
- High School graduate or general education degree GED; and
- six months related experience and/or training; or
- an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the company insurance program.
Other Qualifications:
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to operate and monitor steam equipment and auxiliaries.
- Must have an attention to detail with a keen sense of observation.
- Ability to speak Spanish helpful.
- Minor keyboard skills required to enter information on the curing system.
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to be polite, yet firm, when dealing with others.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine incident reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively when dealing with employees, customers, potential intruders and individuals of authority.
- Must be able to read and transcribe numbers, dates and times to reports.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
